Shooting Starz is a new class offered in Fall 2019 at New Attitudes and is welcome to anyone with special needs. This sensory-friendly class will promote social interaction, creativity, and improve confidence and gross motor skills.
Many parents of a child that has special needs are often hesitant when it comes to placing their child in a dance class. They fear their child may be a distraction or may be too overwhelmed. Many dance classes and dance studios are different in their own ways. It is important to find the studio and the instructor that fits the demands of a child with specific needs. Having a child in a dance class has many benefits; it can improve well being in a physical, psychological, and cognitive way, making it especially beneficial for people with special needs. Shooting Starz dance classes provides a therapeutic and artistic outlet for self-expression through the movement of dance and music. Classes will focus on creative movement, stretching, and being able to express emotions in a safe, judge-free environment while encouraging everyone to showcase their strengths and abilities.
Shooting Starz will be held on Saturday mornings at 11:30. The program will start in September and will run through May, with two in-house performances per year—one in December and one in May.
Classes are designed for children who prefer smaller class sizes to allow for enough support and supervision for those who need it. Class size is capped at 8 students.
