New Attitudes Dance Studios extends congratulations to our graduating seniors Jacey Jacobson, Madi Kirby, Erin Specker, Maya Snyder, Kayla Grugin and Mara Heino.
In the middle of one of the most unusual dance seasons we’ve seen, we would love to pause and take a moment to celebrate our graduating seniors. Most of our 6 seniors have danced at the studio since they were very young and we’re SO proud of the dancers and people they have become. Please join us in taking a moment to give our featured seniors some love and congratulations!

Although we usually highlight them in our spring program, we are virtual this year and will not be printing programs. Instead, we have created this end-of-year feature to honor our studio graduates:
Hi! My name is Jacey Jacobson and I am currently 18 years old. I have been dancing at New Attitudes for around 14 years and have loved it every step of the way. My favorite styles of dance include jazz and tap, however, I have taken most styles anywhere from hip hop and jazz to contemporary and lyrical. I have also been apart of the competition and performance classes for many years. I currently teach at the studio and have been since middle school. I have fallen in love with creating my own dances and learning new styles that I would have never have taken a class for. I plan to continue teaching next year as I attend Northern Michigan University in the fall. I would like to major in biochemistry and minor in photography. I want to thank everyone who has taught me at the studio and helped me become the dancer I am today, but most importantly I would like to thank my mom for always supporting me throughout my dance years and for making sure I was always where I needed to be.
My name is Madi Kirby. I am 18 years old. I have been taking dance classes at New Attitudes for 10 years. Over the past years I have taken lyrical, modern, jazz, hip hop, competition and performance classes. I have been a student teacher for the Tot I and Tot II classes for the last 3 years. I have also worked in the snack shop for 2 dance seasons. I am currently dual enrolled at Marquette Senior High School and NMU, pursuing a degree in Surgical Technology. I will be attending NMU full time in the fall. I would like to thank Janna and everyone at New Attitudes for the amazing dance experience and friendships that I have made throughout my dance career.
My name is Erin Specker and I am 17 years old, and I have been dancing at New Attitudes since I was around 3 years old. Throughout my 14 years of dancing I have taken jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, modern, acro, hip hop, musical theater, performance and competition. In recent years I have also student taught jazz 4-8 and the musical theater classes. After graduation I plan on attending Northern Michigan University with a focus on a pre-PA track to eventually become a Pediatric Physician Assistant. Next year I plan on continuing to teach classes at the studio. A special thank you goes to Miss Jessica for bringing me to New Attitudes and introducing me to dance when I was 3 years old. I would also like to give a big thank you to Janna and all the other teachers who have helped me throughout the years as well as the support of my family.
My name is Maya Snyder and I am 18 years old. I have been taking dance since I was 2 and have switched between New Attitudes and Dawn Dott dance studios. I have enjoyed my time at both studios and appreciate all the things I’ve learned. In my 16 years of dance, I have taken tap, jazz, performance, competition, hip hop, modern and lyrical. I have been student teaching with Janna for a couple of years now in lyrical performance and hip hop, and have enjoyed every moment of it! I plan on continuing and becoming a full teacher after high school. After I graduate, I will be attending Northern Michigan University to get a degree in Forensic Biochemistry. I would like to thank Janna and all the teachers and people who have helped me along the way and helped shape me to be who I am today.
My name is Kayla Grugin and I am 18 years old. I have been dancing at New Attitudes since the age of 3. Throughout my fifteen years of dance, I have taken classes in jazz, tap, lyrical, modern, performance, and competition classes. However, my favorite style of dance is tap. I will be attending Northern Michigan University in the fall, where I am excited to become a member of the Wildcat Marching Band. My family has been a part of the New Attitudes family for 22 years, and I am deeply grateful for everything Janna has done for me and my family throughout the many years.
My name is Mara Heino. I am currently 18 years old. I have been taking dance at New Attitudes since I was about four years old. I have taken several different styles including jazz, tap, lyrical, hip hop, and modern. I also student taught tap for a few years. After graduating high school, I am attending Northern Michigan University. I will be pursuing a degree in Radiography. Thank you to my family and friends for supporting me throughout the years!
The annual Spring Recital Program is a true celebration of our studio community and dancer accomplishments. It has been a pleasure to watch these young individuals grow into the people and dancers they are today. We will miss watching these artists light up our stage, but—before they go—please join us online on Saturday May 22 and Sunday May 23 to celebrate their final performance with their studio family.
Click here to view or download New Attitudes Dance Studios 2021 full recital lineup for Saturday and Sunday performances.
From everyone at NADS, we wish you all the best in your future journey.
Congratulations all!
